Vintage mannequins

Vintage mannequins have a very different look from those of today. Today’s mannequins continue to get sexier and more realistic. But it is not just these factors – sexiness and realness – that separate vintage mannequins from those of today.

You will also find that vintage mannequins have larger, poutier, more-defined lips. The noses of vintage mannequins are often upturned and rather thin. The eyebrows are thin and high – just like the drawn-on eyebrows of movie stars of the time. The hair styles and wigs are also very different.

And vintage mannequins tend to be more petite than their modern counterparts. This only makes sense, because women as a whole used to be more petite, as well. Also, vintage mannequins were slightly more androgynous than their modern counterparts. And they were more commonly made from plaster and paper mache rather than the more modern mannequin materials of rubber and silicone. It is possible to find both new and old mannequins made of fiberglass.
