realistic mannequin is going to cost you more
than practically any other type of mannequin.
So, the question is: is the bloated price worth
it?
In most cases, the answer is “no.”
Sometimes, a realistic mannequin can look so real
that customers will focus more on it than on the
clothing. You are not trying to sell the mannequin
– you want to sell the clothing!
Of course, oftentimes that is the point of using
a realistic mannequin – to draw in the customers’
attention, to have them wondering whether or not
the mannequin is real. If this is your purpose,
why not use live “mannequins” instead?
Customers will be much more drawn in by live
people than realistic mannequins – customers
will not know if they are real, and they will
be surprised and delighted when they find out
they are. Use the money that you saved by not
buying realistic mannequins to hire a few models
to come for a few hours during the busiest shopping
days.
One place that really can use realistic mannequins,
though, is a lingerie shop. In a lingerie shop,
oftentimes what matters most is apparent “sexiness,”
not just what the lingerie looks like. It is alright
if onlookers are too distracted by the realistic
mannequins to notice what they are wearing –
they will still be drawn into the store.
